'O' Christmas Tree

Wishing You Cheer All Year

Today I am sharing a tag I made with gold glittered burlap over a manila tag.
I found this glitter burlap and a pretty red 5" x 5' roll at my Family dollar, (wish I would have picked up more than 1 roll each while I was there!)
I cut out a Christmas tree template I found on the web and adhered it to sturdy card stock and covered with designer paper from Kaisercraft. Added little gold stamens with tacky glue. Tree was adhered with pop up dots to tag.
Embellishing with gold trim, a vintage button and a little hand cut tag-stamping the holiday sentiment with jet black archival ink.

Supplies:

#8 Tag
Glitter Burlap
Card Stock
Designer Paper
Gold Stamens
Vintage Button
Gold Trim
Small Talk Sticker-Occasions
Unity Sentiment Stamp
Black Archival Ink
Tarnish Brass Distress Paint
Tacky Glue

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us!
They are green when summer days are bright,
They are green when winter snow is white.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
You give us so much pleasure!
How oft at Christmas tide the sight,
O green fir tree, gives us delight!
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
You give us so much pleasure!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Forever true your colour.
Your boughs so green in summertime
Stay bravely green in wintertime.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree
Forever true your colour.

Don we now our gay apparel
Troll the ancient Christmas carol,
Fa la la la la la la la la.
See the blazing yule before us,

Strike the harp and join the chorus.
Fa la la la la la la la la.

Countdown to Halloween Day 31!!

Countdown to Halloween- Happy Halloween!

Halloween is Here

by Debbie

It's time for Halloween,
A day for trick or treat,
When the kids dress up in costume,
And walk proudly down the street.
They ring a lot of door bells,
And collect a lot of candy too,
And if they happen to see a ghost,
They will be greated with a boo.
Pumpkins light up the windows,
And decorations adorn the front yard,
So be careful when you come in,
Because the skeleton will be on guard.
So go have a lot of fun,
And don't have any fear,
Because it will soon be over,
And you'll have to wait till next year.

Spooks
- By Sandra Liatsos

There's a goblin at my window,
A monster by my door.
The pumpkin at my table
Keeps on smiling more and more.
There's a ghost who haunts my bedroom,
A witch whose face is green.
They used to be my family,
Till they dressed for Halloween.

13 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DID N0T KNOW>

Jack-o'-lanterns, candy corn and spooky costumes may come to mind when you think about Halloween, but there is far more to know about to know about the holiday. All Hallows' Eve dates back hundreds of centuries.
Forget the tricks and treats — share some interesting facts about the holiday with your friends. Here are 13 things you probably didn't know about Halloween, courtesy of Huffington Post,   Fact Retriever and Live Science:
1. No one was ever poisoned from Halloween candy. It’s just a myth.
2. It was once believed that cats protected the powers of witches, which is why they are associated with Halloween.
3. Instead of just saying “trick-or-treat,” you used to have to dance.
4. Halloween is known by various names, including All Hallows’ Eve, Witches Night, Lamswool Snap-Apple Night, Samhain and Summer’s End.
5. Famous magician Harry Houdini, born in 1874, eerily died on Halloween night in 1926. He suffered from appendicitis after he suffered three stomach punches. Creepy, right?
6. Trick-or-treaters would rather get chocolate for Halloween instead of candy.
7. Halloween used to be called “cabbage night” in some Scottish towns. Girls would use the cabbage stumps to determine their future husbands.
8. Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween.
9. A person will see a witch at the stroke of 12 if he or she wears his or her clothes inside out and backward, legend has it.
10. Costumes are worn because people believed the line between the living and the dead was blurred. They put on masks so the spirits wouldn’t recognize them.
11. Similarly, trick-or-treating might have started because people believed ghosts could disguise themselves as humans and knock on doors to ask for food or money. If they were denied, the spirit could haunt the person who refused the treat.
12. Halloween has been celebrated for more than 6,000 years.
13. The origin of the word “witch” means “wise woman.” It was derived from the Old English word wicce.

National Cat Day- Cat Lovers Hop

Celebrating National Cat Day and the final day of the Cat Lovers Hop!

Cat Lovers Hop
Thank you Janis!

From Wikipedia

National Cat Day was founded by Jason Merrill. It is a celebration that takes place on October 29th, every year in the United States. The National Cat Day website states that the holiday was first celebrated in 2005 "to help galvanize the public to recognize the number of cats that need to be rescued each year and also to encourage cat lovers to celebrate the cat(s) in their life for the unconditional love and companionship they bestow upon us." The day is supported by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a nonprofit organization which also works to encourage pet adoption.
